I wrote this one a long time ago. It was among my first songs, and the first one I tried to get King Apparatus to play. Originally written as a dark lullaby I later decided that it would work better to dress it up as something bouncy. With KA I enjoyed the mixing of flavours, guitarist Sam Tallo often added southern roots colours to our driving take on Ska. Here, I tried to evoke some of that with the telecaster. I worked hard to play something that Sam would rattle off in his sleep.
lyrics
Liars
How many witnesses have you got for me?
Which ones claimed it was much too dark to see?
Lost the race, misplaced their memories
Liars come first when you cry yourself to sleep
Laughter hits hard, it kicks you when you bleed
Apologies fall from the things you feel you need
Nothing stops the hunger that makes them want to feed
Liars will thirst when you cry yourself to sleep
Close your eyes and you won't see them steal
If you shut your mouth then there's nothing to reveal
You're past the point you don't know how to feel
Liars are worst when you cry yourself to sleep

Girio - vocals, bass guitar, upright piano, Yamaha organ, bass drum, floor tom and electric guitar.
The only thing that stops me from comparing this to Toots & The Maytals is the perfection and precision of the Delegators’ musicianship and Janet’s vocals. marc_ian
