Inspired by a rhythm track that Les Paul created by recording the sound of him walking on a hard wood floor, I started the looping process doing the same. I ended up using a chaotic clatter of my shoes along with some low drum hits. Like a lot of the songs that I was creating in those 2 weeks of writing/ demoing, I began it thinking I was working on an instrumental track. I had a hard time not singing something over top that begged to have lyrics.
The title for this one was taken from a caption for a photograph from a science text book from the 60's. It was the promise of the great "White" future that had a slightly creepy undercurrent. I took the cue and wrote this about an over-zealous Neighbourhood Watch, protecting us from ourselves.
Scarlett Union (Winnipeg) did a great demo version of this. But unfortunately for me, it's never to be released until they post all of their demos!

The only thing that stops me from comparing this to Toots & The Maytals is the perfection and precision of the Delegators’ musicianship and Janet’s vocals. marc_ian
